End Of Life Vehicles

Not everyone is aware that there are new laws specifying how all scrap vehicles are to be dealt with. (End of Life Vehicle Directive).

The law states that vehicles at the end of their useful life must be collected, stored and disposed of according to legislative controls.

‘Licensed sites, registered sites & storage sites

The Directive requires that ELVs may only be treated (treatment includes depollution, dismantling, shearing, shredding, recovery and preparation for disposal) at licensed sites. Such sites must meet the standards for storage, depollution and dismantling, as appropriate.’
